Ogle County Saves with CIR

The Problem

Deer Path Lane, a rural Illinois county road, was deteriorating due to age. County officials needed to fix cracking, shoulder cracking, and mend the failing edges of the road.

The Approach

4 inches of Cold In-Place Recycling with 1.5 inches of hot mix.

In just one day, Rock Solid’s crew recycled 11,828 square yards of pavement with CIR, using only two truckloads of new material. The same project, if prepared using mill & fill, would have required ~83 trucks. What’s more, Ogle County leveraged their existing assets by recycling the pavement they’d already paid for, to build a stronger road with 10-15 years of life expectancy at a fraction of the cost — Now that’s big savings.
